Opposition parties in Himachal Pradesh alleged that the scarcity of water here and the killing of an assistant town planner (ATP) in Kasauli proved the incompetence of the present state government.  The first six months of the Jai Ram Thakur government has been a complete failure, the Congress alleged. The state capital has earned a bad name for the "unprecedented" water scarcity here during his first six months in office, state Congress president Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu told PTI.

The mismanagement and unplanned working style of the BJP have left Shimla residents without a drop of water for about a fortnight. Tourism was also adversely affected, he added. Referring to the May 1 killing of ATP Shail Bala Sharma during a drive against unauthorized hotels, the state Congress chief alleged that the law and order situation had deteriorated in the state. CPI(M) MLA from Theog Rakesh Singha the state has not witnessed any change as the Jai Ram Thakur government is continuing the policies of the previous Congress government.

Water scarcity is in the entire state, he claimed. However, BJP state chief spokesperson Randhir Sharma claimed that prompt action had been taken against negligent police officials in the Kasauli incident
