Senior Akali Dal Leader Bikram Singh Majithia Detained by Vigilance Bureau

Bikram Singh Majithia Latest News Today: Former Punjab Minister and senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia was detained by the Vigilance Bureau on Wednesday morning, following an intense raid at his residence.

The development comes amid heightened tensions between the opposition SAD and the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, with the Akali leadership alleging “politically motivated targeting” of its senior leaders.

Sources confirmed that over two dozen officers from the Vigilance Bureau arrived at Majithia's residence early in the morning and detained him after hours of document inspection and questioning. The exact nature of the charges or the case under which he has been taken into custody has not been made public yet. (Bikram Singh Majithia Latest News Today)

The detainment sparked a heated argument at the residence, with Majithia’s wife, MLA Ganieve Kaur Majithia, confronting the officials and alleging "trespassing" and procedural violations. Senior police officers also rushed to the scene to ensure law and order was maintained.

The Shiromani Akali Dal has called the action "an act of vendetta" and warned of statewide protests if Majithia is not released immediately. Party president Sukhbir Singh Badal is expected to address a press conference later in the day.

Meanwhile, the Vigilance Bureau has remained tight-lipped about the details of the investigation but confirmed that Majithia is being questioned in connection with “certain financial irregularities and disproportionate assets.”

This is not the first time Majithia has been under scrutiny. In the past, he has faced investigations in connection with high-profile cases, including narcotics-related charges, though he has maintained his innocence and accused the government of political witch-hunting.

More details are awaited as the story develops.
