BJP Spokesperson Poonawalla Slams Rahul Gandhi for Skipping Surya Kant's Swearing-in Ceremony as 53rd CJI
Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, extended his warm wishes to the new CJI.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla sharply criticized Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi on Monday, for skipping Justice Surya Kant’s swearing-in ceremony as the 53rd Chief Justice of India (CJI).
Poonawalla alleged that Rahul Gandhi prioritizes “family over the constitutional system.”
Speaking to ANI, the BJP spokesperson remarked, “He gives more importance to family dynasty than to the constitutional system. They talk about the Constitution, but whenever there is a constitutional program, they choose to boycott it. Rahul Gandhi ji remains busy with jungle safaris, parties, and foreign tours.”
Earlier today, President of India Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to Justice Surya Kant in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, extended his warm wishes to the new CJI.
“Extending my warm wishes to Justice Surya Kant on taking oath as the 53rd Chief Justice of India. His elevation marks the beginning of a 14-month tenure at a critical juncture for our justice system. I am confident that under his leadership, constitutional values, institutional strength, and public trust in the rule of law will be further reinforced, advancing the promise of justice for every citizen,” Kharge wrote in a post on X.
On the other hand, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is yet to make a post on Justice Surya Kant’s swearing-in as CJI.
