Punjab Police busts banned Babbar Khalsa International terror module; imminent attack averted

Punjab Police News: In a major breakthrough, the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Amritsar, has busted a terror module linked to the banned terrorist organisation Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), averting a planned attack on a security establishment, an official said on Friday.

An operative of BKI has been arrested, and police have recovered one hand grenade, a sophisticated pistol, and ammunition from his possession.

Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said that an “imminent attack” on a security establishment was successfully foiled.

“This operation comes just ahead of the #RepublicDay celebrations,” the DGP said.

He added that the arrested accused was acting on the directions of three foreign-based handlers, identified as Nishan Jaurrian, Adesh Jamarai, and Simma Deol.

An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station SSOC, Amritsar, and further investigations are underway.

Reiterating the force’s commitment, the DGP said that Punjab Police remains steadfast in its resolve to dismantle organised crime networks and ensure peace and security across Punjab.
