Arvind Kejriwal Arrest News: Delhi CM arrested in excise police case, AAP to move Supreme Court

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Arrest News: In a big news coming in, the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been arrested by the ED in alleged Excise Policy case on Thursday.

Senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi said that "Arvind Kejriwal will not seek urgent hearing on plea for protection in SC tonight."

AAP Moves to the SC

Likewise, AAP leader Atishi said, "We have received news that ED has arrested Arvind Kejriwal... We have always said that Arvind Kejriwal will run the govt from jail. He will remain the CM of Delhi. We have filed a case in the Supreme Court. Our lawyers are reaching SC. We will demand SC have an urgent hearing tonight."

Arvind Kejriwal's Arrest Came Hours After High Court's Refusal For Relief

It is pertinent to mention that hours after the Delhi High Court denied relief to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, an Enforcement Directorate (ED) team reached his residence here on Thursday evening to carry out a search and serve him a summons to join the probe in an excise policy-linked money-laundering case, officials said.

AAP Workers Detained

In the meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party workers were protesting outside the residence of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal after which the police detained some of the workers. Not only this but also AAP MLA Rakhi Birla has also been detained for protesting outside the residence of Delhi CM.

Here's how BJP reacted to the news of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's arrest:

BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra said, "A high voltage drama is going on outside the residence of Arvind Kejriwal. A celebration of corruption is going on... If their Excise policy was so good, why was it cancelled? Why and how did you introduce cartelization in the whole process of liquor procurement?... Why did he give contracts to his close ones? Initially 5% commission was given which was increased to 12%, and even 7% additional commission was received by him in the form of black money... There is no court left in this country which the AAP did not approach to spread their lies. Still, they did not get any relief from anywhere... Atishi says Arvind Kejriwal is not a person, he is an idea. I should say he is a bad idea."
