Congress MP Randhawa Slams Punjab Govt Over Rise in Terror and Gangster Activities; Urges Centre to Summon Top State Officials
“I would like to ask the Punjab CM about the killing of people in the state by terrorists and gangsters."
Congress MP from Gurdaspur, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, on Tuesday raised serious concerns over the law-and-order situation in Punjab, alleging an increase in killings attributed to terrorists and gangsters.
Speaking to news agency ANI, Randhawa questioned Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s handling of the situation. “I would like to ask the Punjab CM about the killing of people in the state by terrorists and gangsters. Did the CM speak to the Home Minister about this? Has he bent his knees before him?” he alleged.
The Congress leader also accused political parties in Punjab of relying on gangsters for support. “Candidates, whether from AAP or SAD, have taken support from gangsters. What did the CM do about it? He should be ashamed that the wife of a gangster fled from India. There cannot be a more cowardly CM than him,” Randhawa claimed.
He further said the people of Punjab should not panic, but criticised the state leadership sharply, calling the government “cowardly and rudderless.” Randhawa added that the situation in the state has “deteriorated to levels worse than the 1980s.”
Calling for central intervention, Randhawa urged the Union government to take action against terrorists and gangsters operating in the state. He demanded that the Centre summon the Punjab government, the Director General of Police (DGP), and the Home Secretary to seek explanations.
“They should summon the Punjab government, the DGP and the Home Secretary and ask what is happening in the state. Both are colluding and want to finish off Punjab. We will not let this happen,” he said.
Additionally, the Congress leader called the November 10 car blast near Red Fort in Delhi the Ruling's failure and "shameful".
"Any blast that occurs is a failure of the government. A blast in the national capital, in Delhi, is even more shameful. If there is no security in Delhi, where will it be? Govt of India, HM and PM will have to answer this."
Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has previously served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab.
