Will Sanjay Singh Go To Jail Again? Here's Why This Question Being Popped Up
Sanjay Singh had challenged the summons issued by a Gujarat court in the defamation case.
New Delhi: Will AAP's Sanjay Singh be going to jail again? Well, this is the question that has popped in the minds of people after the Supreme Court on Monday refused to stay the defamation summons issued against the AAP MP for questioning the degree of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to information, Sanjay Singh had challenged the summons issued by a Gujarat court in the defamation case which was filed by Gujarat University's registrar Piyush Patel.
Patel reportedly filed the defamation case against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh over their alleged comments after the Gujarat High Court set aside an order related to the chief information commissioner for providing information about PM Narendra Modi's educational degrees to them under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.
Earlier in January, the Supreme Court had put a stay on the proceedings before a trial court on the defamation complaint filed by the Gujarat University against Arvind Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh, the news agency PTI reported.
The top court asked the Gujarat high court to decide within four weeks on a plea filed by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders seeking quashing of the summonses issued to them by the trial court.
In August, last year, the apex court had refused to entertain Arvind Kejriwal's plea challenging the high court's order that rejected his request to stay the criminal defamation proceedings filed by the university.
It is pertinent to mention that AAP MP Sanjay Singh recently got relief from the Supreme Court and was released from jail. Ever since his comeback, he has been targeting the BJP party.
