Panchkula: Dera Sacha Sauda chairperson Vipassana Insan on Friday joined the investigations into the violence at Panchkula following the conviction of sect head Gurmeet Ram Rahim in rape cases.

Vipassana also handed over the cellphone of Honeypreet Insan to the special investigation team (SIT) at the Sector 23 police station on Panchkula. Initially, Vipassana was asked to join the probe on October 10.

She did not turn up citing ill health and on October 11, Haryana police had sent a team of doctors from Sirsa to the dera headquarters for her medical examination. After avoiding questioning thrice in the past, Vipassana reached the Sector 23 police station where she was confronted with Honeypreet.

Afterwards, a team of investigators started questioning her and continued late into the evening. Investigations have confirmed that Vipassana too had come to Panchkula with the dera head on August 25.

She was stationed outside the district courts complex after cops allowed only two vehicles to enter. Earlier, she had insisted that she was present in the dera on August 24 and had denied having spoken to Honeypreet, Aditya Insan and Pawan Insan after registration of sedition cases against them.
