Remembering India's Missile Man APJ Abdul Kalam on his second
A cobbler was the invitee at Kererla's Raj Bhawan by former President APJ Abdul Kalam
Who did President Kalam invite as the “Presidential Guests” to Kerela’s Raj Bhavan during his first visit to Kerela after becoming the President? A road side cobbler and an own of a very small hotel No kidding.
As the President, Dr. Kalam was entitled to invite anyone as the “Presidential Guests” to the Raj Bhavan of Kerela during his first visit to Trivandrum. Dr. Kalam had spent a significant time as a scientist in Trivandrum and he invited a road-side cobbler – who was quite close to Dr. Kalam during his time in Kerala; and so was the owner of the small hotel where Dr. Kalam would often have his meals.
Can you imagine any other politician or a celebrity inviting a cobbler and a small business owner as their most prestigious guests?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the memorial on Dr Kalam's second death anniversary and paid his tributes. Bose Chandran, a local fisherman, however, is happy. "This landmark in the hometown of the people's President would continue to ignite young minds to dream big," he said.
Dr. Kalam was genious and moreover, during his tenure as President he didn't take much official facilities. Once he called his relatives at Rashtrapati Bhavan and he paid the expenses of theri travel from his salary.
Simple living and high thinking took Kalam to greater heights. He has left the world but he will always be the guiding spirits for the youngsters. The future generations will take lessons from his interesting stories. He won the hearts of millions of people with his simplicity.
