Pune: In a grisly incident, a 30-year-old man allegedly killed both his parents in Shaniwar Peth area of the city today morning. Parag Kshirsagar, the accused, was an alcoholic and was currently unemployed, said police.
The deceased were identified as his father Prakash Kshirsagar (60) and mother Asha Kshirsagar (55). After killing them, Parag slashed his wrist with a blade, apparently with the intention of killing himself, but survived.
Senior inspector Appasaheb Shewale, in-charge of Vishrambaug police station, said as per Pratik Kshirsagar, the accused's twin brother who lived in the same house with his wife, Parag had a heated argument with his father early in the morning.
"While the argument was going on, Pratik and his wife remained in their bedroom. After sometime, not hearing any sounds outside, he and his wife came out of the room around 9.30 am to see Prakash lying in a pool of blood in his bedroom with his throat slit. Pratik found his mother dead in another room, strangulated," said the police officer.
Parag, who had cut his wrist, was lying on a sofa. "Pratik's wife rushed outside and informed neighbours and then police were informed," he added. Parag was arrested for murder under section 302 of the IPC.
Parag, who has a diploma in mechanical engineering, was working in Dubai before quitting the job and returning to Pune a couple of years ago, the officer said. He was unmarried.
"He wanted money to set up a security agency, but his parents were not ready to give him money as he was alcoholic and used to pick up fights over small issues," said inspector Shewale. He had had an argument with his parents last night too, according to the police.
While Prakash Kshirsagar had retired from a construction firm, his wife worked in a government office. The accused will be produced in a court tomorrow, Shewale said. PTI
