Ambala (Har): Four persons were killed when a truck collided head-on with a three wheeler on the Ambala- Hisar Highway today, the police said. Seven others were injured in the accident and have been hospitalised.
Two of the seriously injured were referred to PGIMER, Chandigarh while the others were admitted in Ambala city civil hospital. "All the deceased in the accident were travelling in the three-wheeler. They had come from Kashmir Valley," a police official said.
The deceased were identified as Noor Din, Mohammad Abbas, Bashir Ahmad Gani and Mohammad Ahsraf Gani, police said. The three-wheeler driver, who was carrying 11 passengers in his vehicle, was also injured in the accident, police said.
Police said eight persons hailing from Jammu and Kashmir had come to Ambala to sell their goats in a cattle market located on the Ambala-Hisar road, near Ambala City. "After selling their goats, they were to catch a bus for onward journey to Jammu and Kashmir," the police official said. The truck driver fled from the site leaving his truck behind.
The police took the truck in its possession and registered a case against the unknown driver. Police said all the injured were rushed to Ambala city civil hospital, but four of them were declared as brought dead by hospital authorities. The relatives of the deceased were being informed, police said. PTI
