The BJP has come out to woo
the voters of Gujrat and decided to reduce the Value Added Tax (VAT) on petrol
and diesel by four percent amid the controversy of Jay Amit Shah’s assets.
A website had reported that the Shah’s son wealth increased 300 % in BJP regime. Jay Amit Shah has been filing the defamation case of Rs 100 crore against the author and editor of the website.
Defending Jay’s increased assets, the BJP has stated that the company of Jay has been following the all legalities and paying the proper taxes. Even Jay has given a statement that he has provided the all legal documents to the website.
On the other hand, the Congress got the major issue against the saffron party ahead of the Gujrat assembly polls. The Congress party has been demanding an inquiry into the matter by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. he Congress sought answers from Prime Minister and the BJP president, and demanded a probe by the ED and the CBI.
It’s a major hurdle in front of the BJP ahead of the Gujrat assembly polls and it may hit the party also. The defamation suit of Rs 100 crore against the website has hit the headlines.
The former Gujrat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel has also told the BJP that she won’t contest the assembly polls. Patel wrote to Amit Shah to convey her decision.
In her letter to Shah, Patel cited her age and urged the party chief to give tickets to meritorious candidates. Though she cited the age factor but this would definitely harm the party in the polls.
The reduction in tax comes just before Diwali in the state, where the Assembly polls are due around the year-end.
"After the Central government's instructions, Gujarat has decided to reduce VAT on petrol and diesel by 4 per cent from today mid-night," Rupani said at a press meet here.
