New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday sent notices to actor Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri to appear before it in connection with a Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) case.

Sources said Shah Rukh and Gauri were given notices as part of the adjudication proceedings that are under way.

Sources said that a notice was issued to the actor, according to which, he could present his defense before the special director of the ED. “We will hear what he has to say,” said a senior ED officer.

Khan is being probed in connection with alleged violations in the sale of around five million shares of Knight Riders Sports Pvt Ltd (KRSPL), a franchise owned by his company Red Chillies Entertainment, to a Mauritius-based company owned by Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla’s husband Jay Mehta.

Chawla, too, is being probed in this connection. The agency has alleged a loss of Rs 73.6 crore in foreign exchange.
