Cold weather prevails in Punjab, Adampur coldest at 2.5 C

Chandigarh: Cold weather conditions continued to prevail at most places in Punjab today with Adampur being the coldest place in the state at 2.5 degrees Celsius, a MeT department official said. 

However, the minimum temperatures increased at most places in neighbouring Haryana. 

The official said that in Punjab, Amritsar, Bathinda and Faridkot also recorded below normal minimums at 4.2 degrees Celsius, 4.8 degrees Celsius and 4.4 degrees Celsius, respectively.  

Halwara and Pathankot, too, experienced cold weather recording their respective lows at 4.5 degrees Celsius and 6.1 degrees Celsius.  

Ludhiana, Patiala and Gurdaspur recorded respective minimums of 6.4 degrees Celsius, 8.6 degrees Celsius and 7.8 degrees Celsius. In Haryana, Karnal recorded a low of 11 degrees Celsius, up three notches against the normal limit.  

The official said that Ambala, Bhiwani and Sirsa also registered above normal minimum temperatures at 12.2 degrees Celsius, 10.1 degrees Celsius and 8.5 degrees Celsius.  

The minimum temperature at Hisar was 8.1 degrees Celsius and Narnaul 7.5 degrees Celsius. PTI
