Cabinet reshuffle: Pradhan, Sitharaman, Goyal, Naqvi elevated to Cabinet ranks

Four Ministers of State, including Piyush Goyal, were on Sunday elevated to the Cabinet rank in a reshuffle and expansion of the Council of Ministers.

The four ministers are Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy and Mines Minister Goyal, Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Minority Affairs Minister Muktar Abbas Naqvi.

They were sworn in as Cabinet ministers by President Ram Nath Kovind at a swearing-in ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inducted nine new faces in his Council of Ministers, including a former ambassador, two former IAS officers and a former Mumbai police top cop, at a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday.

Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Nirmala Sitharaman, Smriti Irani and Dharmendra Pradhan were among those attending the ceremony.

Earlier, Ministers Sitharaman, Piyush Goyal, Naqvi and Pradhan attended a breakfast meeting with the Prime Minister.
