India Post Announces Suspension Booking Of All Categories Of Mail To US Latest News: The Department of Posts, India on Sunday (August 31) announced the suspension of Booking of all categories of mail costing up to $100 to the United States until further notification.
The decision has been taken due to carrier unavailability & undefined regulatory mechanisms.
“In view of the ongoing inability of carriers to transport U.S.-bound mail and in the absence of defined regulatory mechanisms, it has been decided to completely suspend the booking of all categories of mail, including letters, documents, and gift items valued up to USD 100, destined for the USA,” Ministry of Communications said in a statement.
The Department is closely monitoring the situation and working to restore services at the earliest. Customers who have already booked items that could not be dispatched can claim a refund of postage.
“The inconvenience caused to valued customers is sincerely regretted,” the statement added.
