Assam Flood Death Toll Rises to 80, Over 2.12 Lakh Still Affected Across 8 Districts

The death toll in Assam floods rose to eighty on Friday after two more fatalities were reported in Sivasagar district. Official updates confirmed that while overall water levels showed slight improvement, over two lakh twelve thousand people remain severely impacted across eight affected districts today.
Charaideo remains the most severely affected district with nearly eighty thousand impacted residents, followed by Sivasagar with seventy one thousand and Jorhat with forty thousand. State authorities currently operate one hundred twelve relief camps, housing over seventy five thousand displaced citizens across severely inundated regions.

Under the approved relief framework, banks will extend existing loan tenures by one to seven years depending on debt type. These measures cover affected residents across Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat, and Golaghat districts to reduce financial distress caused by widespread severe property and crop damage today.
Multi agency rescue operations involving the Indian Army, NDRF, and SDRF continue distributing essential relief across inundated villages. The state government has formally requested a comprehensive financial assistance package from an inter ministerial central team that recently completed a four day field assessment.
