8-Member NDA-BJP Leaders' Delegation Reaches Tamil Nadu to Investigate Karur Stampede Latest News: An eight-member NDA-BJP leaders' delegation has reached Karur, where a stampede on 27th September, during a public event of TVK (Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam) chief and actor Vijay, claimed 40 lives, ANI reported.
The delegation will investigate the circumstances that led to the stampede, meet with affected families, and submit a report.
The delegation interacted with people at the spot where the incident took place.
An eyewitness, reflecting on the ordeal to the BJP-NDA delegation in Karur, Tamil Nadu, said, “TVK's Aadhav Arjuna went up to Vijay and said that people are fainting. They immediately started throwing water bottles from the vehicle...Local administration failed...The road is 19-ft and the vehicle itself took 12-ft...After the commotion started, he ended the speech and left...Vijay was present for 10 minutes...”
Another eyewitness claimed that within 3-4 minutes after the actor-turned-politician Vijay’s speech, people started fainting.
"Within 3-4 minutes after Vijay started speaking, people started fainting. Commotion started and then an ambulance came - that too caused commotion. All of us started running...It took 1 hour to clear everything...Several people who were not from here were in the crowd...Why did people push us to the ditch and not to the other side?”
The delegation has left the site of the 27th September stampede and is headed to the hospital where the injured are currently undergoing treatment.
BJP MP Anurag Thakur told the media, "We are going to the hospital. Let us meet those who are injured."
Uttar Pradesh MP Hema Malini is among the eight-member delegation, along with BJP MP Anurag Thakur.

Yesterday, BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda constituted an NDA delegation to visit Karur and investigate the circumstances that led to the stampede during the TVK party’s rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Minister Anbil Mahesh, when asked why no action had been taken against the police in connection with the incident, said, “An inquiry commission headed by a retired judge has been formed. If lapses are found, strict action will be taken against those responsible.”
