Offline Registration for Amarnath Yatra Begins in Jammu; Security Reviewed Ahead of Pilgrimage
Jammu, June 30: A large number of devotees turned up on Monday for offline registration for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra at a special centre set up by the administration for those unable to register through the online mode.
The offline registration process began today in Jammu, ahead of the annual pilgrimage scheduled to start on July 3.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) South, Manu Hansa, told ANI, “We welcome all Amarnath devotees here. We have started the token centre at Saraswati Dham, which is the only token centre in Jammu issuing tokens for both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes.
For registration, we have set up three centres, and there are six token counters each for the Baltal and Pahalgam routes.”
Meanwhile, security officials and the administration conducted a detailed inspection of arrangements ahead of the yatra.
According to ANI, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has chalked out a robust multi-layered security plan along the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) to ensure the safety of pilgrims. K-9 (dog) squads have been deployed along sensitive stretches, particularly in the Udhampur sector, alongside enhanced highway patrolling.
The first batch of pilgrims will be flagged off on July 2 from the Jammu base camp, with the yatra officially beginning the following day via both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes.
In preparation for possible natural challenges, a joint mock landslide drill was conducted on Sunday by the Jammu and Kashmir State Disaster Response Force (JKSDRF) at Samroli and Toldi Nallah on the Jammu–Srinagar highway.
On the same day, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the Nunwan Base Camp in Pahalgam to review the pilgrimage arrangements. He also inspected medical and logistical facilities at the Chandanwari Base Camp to ensure a smooth and safe yatra for the devotees.
