Electric Buses to Run in Panchkula from THIS month!

Electric Buses in Panchkula: Work has started to run 50 state-of-the-art electric buses in Panchkula from March. Ten 11 KV points will be made behind Sector-5 bus stand for charging. Its drawing has been prepared. 

The length of these air-conditioned electric buses, to be run in the city, will be 12 meters. The capacity of one bus will be 32 seats. It will have all the necessary facilities like CCTV cameras, panic button, LED display system, pink seats for women, wheelchair ramp and reserved seats for the elderly and disabled.

In the first phase, this service has been started with the creation of e-charging points in Panipat and Yamunanagar. This city bus project will be a big step towards easy travel for passengers as well as a pollution-free environment. 

Electric buses will be able to run up to 150 kilometers on a single charge. Presently, the normal city bus runs on diesel. Diesel buses consume about 30 to 35 liters of diesel in a day that cost Rs 2500 to 3000. Charging the electric bus in a day will cost 10 to 15 units of electricity. That means the cost of charging an electric bus for a day will be Rs 300 to 400 only.

City bus service will run on the lines of autos. Its fare will also be normal. People will not have to hesitate much for rent. Once charged, the electric buses will be able to run for about 115 kilometers. In this urban area, Housing Board Light Point to Sector 7-18, Sector 8-17, Sector 9-16, Sector 10-15, Sector 11-14, Sector 12-12A, Sector 11-10, and Sector 5-4. The dividing road of Sector 5-2, Sector 5-6, Sector 7-8 has been declared as Bell Corridor. New design bus stops will be built here. 

Facility of National Common Mobility Card will also be available:

On the lines of Metro, pass facility will be available for special category people. National Common Mobility Cards will be made by Roadways. This card will have to be shown during the journey. The facility to recharge this card has also been provided by the Transport Department. Some time ago, the e-ticketing process has started in Haryana Roadways Department. Under this process, the work of making NCMC cards will also be starting soon.
