Delhi's Prashant Vihar Blast News Today: Explosion Near PVR, Security Teams Deployed

Delhi Prashant Vihar Blast News Today: An explosion occurred in Prashant Vihar, a locality in Delhi's Rohini, on Thursday morning, just over a month after a similar blast had caused panic in the area. The explosion took place near the PVR cinema in Prashant Vihar, as reported by indiatoday.in.

The Delhi Fire Service received a call about the blast at 11:48 AM, according to news agency ANI. Fire tenders were promptly dispatched to the site.

In addition to fire teams, personnel from the Delhi Police Crime Branch, Special Cell, and Bomb Disposal Squad also arrived at the location. The area was cordoned off as authorities worked to secure the scene.

This latest blast comes just weeks after a powerful explosion damaged a wall of the CRPF school in the same neighborhood, triggering widespread panic. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in either incident.

A high alert was issued across the city following the previous explosion.

Initial investigations suggest that the Thursday blast might have been caused by a crude bomb. However, further analysis pointed to the possibility that the explosion was triggered by discarded cigarette butts, thrown by a man walking his dog, which came into contact with industrial waste in a nearby garbage dump, according to an Indian Express report.

The explosion, captured on CCTV, caused significant damage, including the destruction of part of the school wall, shattered windowpanes of nearby shops, and damage to several parked cars. The blast's sound was reportedly heard several hundred meters away.

Following the explosion, security forces, including teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guard (NSG), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Delhi Police, sealed off the area. Forensic experts also collected samples from the site as part of the ongoing investigation.
