Delhi Rajendra Nagar Coaching Institute Basement Flood Death Toll News: A third body has been found in the flooded basement of a coaching institute in Delhi's Rajendra Nagar, raising the death toll to three. Rescue teams are continuing their search at the location.
"The bodies have been sent to the hospital for further legal procedures. Rescue operations are still ongoing, with water being pumped out of the basement. Currently, there is still about seven feet of water remaining. We urge the student community not to come to the site, as their presence may obstruct rescue efforts. While we understand their distress, their presence is counterproductive to the ongoing rescue operations," he said.
Delhi Police noted that due to poor visibility and the flooded conditions, divers and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are continuing their search at the scene.
Fire Officer Atul Garg stated, "Five fire vehicles arrived at the scene around 7:15 pm. We have pumped out the water and recovered the bodies of two girls. Approximately three children were feared trapped; two have been recovered, and we are working to retrieve the third as soon as the water levels decrease. There were 30 students in the basement; while three were trapped, the others managed to escape. We anticipate concluding the operation shortly."
Delhi BJP Chief Virendra Sachdeva criticized the AAP government, calling for an investigation into alleged corruption within the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
"There should be an inquiry into the corruption of Arvind Kejriwal, Atishi and their government. Delhi Municipal Corporation's corruption should be inquired. There should be an inquiry as to why the drainage was not cleaned. Will they order an inquiry into this?" he said.
