Heartbreaking Revelation: Desperate Couple Resorts to Selling Baby to Fund Social Media Reels

For Representative Purpose Only

WEST BENGAL: A heart-wrenching incident has come to light in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, where a couple resorted to selling their 8-month-old baby to purchase an expensive iPhone and fund their social media "reels." The shocking case of child trafficking has left the community in disbelief and horror.

The police were alerted when concerned neighbors noticed the absence of the baby and observed significant changes in the behavior of the couple. Upon questioning, the husband and wife confessed to the unimaginable act, admitting that they had sold their son for money.

The Couple, facing financial difficulties not long ago, had acquired an iPhone and embarked on a tour across various parts of the state to create online content for social media platforms. The pursuit of material possessions seemed to have led them down a dark path, as they decided to sell their own child for their desires.

Swift police action resulted in the rescue of the child from a woman residing in the Kharra area. Allegedly, the couple had traded their son for the mobile device with this woman. Authorities arrested the child's mother initially, and later apprehended the father, Jaydev, who had been on the run.

Disturbingly, neighbors allege that the couple also has a seven-year-old daughter, and there are suspicions that they intended to sell her as well. Local councilor Tarak Guha revealed that the couple attempted to sell their daughter too, but timely intervention by concerned citizens and law enforcement prevented this heinous act.

The gravity of the situation has shaken the community, raising questions about the lengths people may go to fulfill their materialistic desires, even at the cost of innocent lives. The police have registered a case and initiated a thorough investigation into the matter to ensure that justice is served.
