As many as 12 villagers were admitted to the hospital following gas leak from a private company's pipeline.

Tamil Nadu Ennore Ammonia Gas Leak News Today: In a shocking incident, an ammonia gas was leaked in Ennore, Tamil Nadu, due to which the condition of 12 people deteriorated and they were admitted to the hospital. As per the information, the gas had leaked from the pipeline of a private company. 

After the occurrence of the incident, the police rushed to the spot and, later, stated that the situation was under control.

It has been reported that a company named Coromandel International Limited, based in Ennore, manufactures fertilizer for which ammonia is used. It has also been reported that the police received information about an ammonia gas leak in Tamil Nadu's Ennore at around 12:45 at midnight. 

The gas leak incident reportedly occurred during the pre-cooling operation of the pipeline. Following the gas leakage, there was an atmosphere of chaos in the surrounding areas and nearby villages as people were facing foul smell, dizziness, and difficulty in breathing. Police said that 12 villagers have been admitted to Stanley Hospital in the area and that their condition is normal now. Keeping in mind the safety of the other villagers, they were shifted to the community hall overnight.

In the meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board team arrived at the spot to investigate the matter. The team said that the ammonia level in the air around 3.30 am was 3ppm.

What did the company say?

After the incident of a gas leak took place, the company said, "During routine operations, we noticed a problem in the pipeline at 11:30 pm on Tuesday, December 26. This problem appeared in the pipeline located on the seashore. This part of the pipe was present in front of the company gate. Immediately after the incident, we started work as per the standard operating procedure. And the ammonia system facility was evacuated. 

The company also said that after the gas leak, we had informed the related agencies about the incident.
