Bengaluru Mahalakshmi murder case latest news: In a shocking development in the Mahalakshmi murder case, the prime suspect, Mukti Ranjan Ray, reportedly confessed to the crime in a diary entry and to his mother before taking his own life near his home in Dhusuri, Odisha.
Police recovered a notebook in which Ray detailed the gruesome murder, writing in both Odia and English. He claimed that Mahalakshmi, with whom he was in a relationship, had physically assaulted him multiple times for refusing to marry her. Ray also alleged that Mahalakshmi exploited him financially and had planned to kill him, which led him to murder her.
Ray's mother confirmed that he had confessed to her as well. "He was disturbed because Mahalakshmi was exploiting him. She even took his gold chain and ring," she stated.
Ray and Mahalakshmi, who worked together at a garment store in a Bengaluru mall, had been in a troubled relationship. Tensions escalated when Mahalakshmi, who had separated from her husband, pressured Ray for marriage.
According to police, fearing arrest as they tracked him down in Odisha, Ray committed suicide. His brother, Satya, revealed that Ray had strangled Mahalakshmi on September 3 during a fight, dismembered her body, and stored the remains in a refrigerator, with plans to dispose of them months later.
