Aam Aadmi Party Steps Up Campaign Against E20 Fuel, Calls Public Discussion on August 1
Kejriwal appealed to the general public to attend the National Townhall Against E20 in large numbers.
Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal said on Monday that the party will organize a discussion program in the national capital on August 1 aimed at bringing all stakeholders onto a single platform regarding the issue of E20 ethanol blended fuel.
Speaking at a press conference here, Kejriwal appealed to the general public to attend the National Townhall Against E20 in large numbers, which is scheduled to be held at the Constitution Club of India in New Delhi.
He said that the party is inviting people to participate in large numbers in this event. He noted that they will discuss how to build pressure on the central government to roll back E20 petrol, adding that experts as well as people who faced vehicle problems are invited.
The former Chief Minister stated that the Aam Aadmi Party had previously launched an online petition to make E20 fuel optional, which has been signed by nearly two lakh people. Kejriwal added that next week he will visit Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence with this online petition but specified that this visit will take place after the upcoming meeting.
He said that people wishing to join the program digitally can send a message to the party's official mobile number, following which an online link will be sent to them to join. Earlier this month, Kejriwal wrote a letter to Prime Minister Modi seeking time to meet and discuss concerns related to E20 fuel while demanding a reduction in the prices of ethanol blended petrol.
