BSF Proposes Naming a Post "Sindoor" and Two Others After Martyred Personnel

BSF Proposes Naming a Post "Sindoor" and Two Others After Martyred Personnel, latest news: The Border Security Force (BSF) has proposed naming a post in the Samba sector as "Sindoor" and two other posts after personnel killed during the cross-border shelling by Pakistan on May 10, ANI reported.

Speaking about the operation, BSF IG Jammu Frontier, Shashank Anand, said as cited in the ANI report, that three jawans, including an Indian Army Naik, were killed while fighting during the cross-border shelling.

“On the morning of May 10, Pakistan sent low-flying drones to target our posts. The BSF was actively engaging these drones. However, during one such incident, a tragic event occurred when BSF Sub-Inspector Mohammad Imtiyaz, Constable Deepak Kumar, and Indian Army Naik Sunil Kumar were trying to counter a drone, which dropped a payload, resulting in the death of all three,” he said.

“We propose to name two of our posts after the personnel we lost, and one post will be named 'Sindoor' in the Samba sector,” IG Shashank Anand added.

Praising the women personnel who fought on forward duty posts during Operation Sindoor, IG Anand said, “BSF's women personnel bravely fought on forward duty posts during Operation Sindoor. Assistant Commandant Neha Bhandari commanded a forward post, and Constables Manjit Kaur, Malkit Kaur, Jyoti, Sampa, Swapna, and others fought valiantly against Pakistan during this operation.”

He further stated, “We are receiving numerous inputs regarding terrorists returning to their launch pads and camps, with possible infiltration attempts along the LoC and IB. Security forces will have to remain alert.”

Additionally, BSF DIG RS Pura sector, Chiter Pal, shared that on May 9, Pakistan targeted several posts in the region. “Our BSF jawans gave a befitting reply to them,” he said.

He added, “When they reduced firing, they increased drone activity. In response, BSF targeted and destroyed the Pakistani terrorist launchpad at Mastpur.”

Chiter Pal also mentioned that during the firing, “Pakistani soldiers were abandoning their posts and fleeing.”
