Ludhiana: A 50-year-old employee of a government airline has been infected with the coronavirus. The staff boarded the flight from Delhi to Ludhiana on Monday. They were accompanied by 11 other people on the flight.

However, the Covid-19 report of the rest of the people has been negative but they have been quarantined as a precautionary measure.

Civil Surgeon of Ludhiana Dr. Rajesh Bagga said that 116 samples were taken on Monday, out of which 114 were reported and one of them was found positive.

Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Agarwal said that the patients infected with the coronavirus are residents of Delhi and work as security personnel in Air India. He arrived at Sahnewal Airport on May 25 on a domestic flight.

The Centre had last week announced that one-third of domestic flights would start in the country from Monday. However, international flights will be closed for now.

Many states do not agree with the decision to start domestic flights from the Centre as cases of coronavirus are on the rise in the country. Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had said that they need more time for this. Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra, has the highest number of corona positive cases in the country.
