Mild Earthquake Jolts Haryana for Second Consecutive Day

Earthquake Haryana Today on Second Consecutive Day Latest News: Haryana experienced yet another earthquake within 24 hours, as mild tremors were recorded on Thursday morning at 9:42 AM. The epicenter was once again located in Sonipat, at a depth of 10 kilometers beneath the surface, with a magnitude of 2.6 on the Richter scale, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).

The tremors follow Wednesday's earthquake at 12:28 PM, which had a magnitude of 3.5 and an epicenter 5 kilometers deep near Kundal village in Kharkhoda, Sonipat. The earlier quake caused strong jolts across Rohtak, Sonipat, Panipat, Jhajjar, and Gurugram, prompting residents to rush out of their homes.

Concerns Over Potential Bigger Earthquake

Experts suggest these recurring tremors may indicate the possibility of a larger earthquake in the coming weeks. Sources predict that a significant seismic event could occur by January 7-8, heightening concerns in the Sonipat district, which is increasingly being classified as a sensitive seismic zone.

Recent Seismic History in Haryana

This is not the first time Haryana has faced consecutive earthquakes. Five months ago, Faridabad experienced two earthquakes within an hour, both with a magnitude of 2.4. Those tremors were traced to an epicenter 5 kilometers deep within the district.

As the state braces for potential seismic activity, residents in affected areas are advised to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions.
