NSG Holds Neverever Memorial at Gateway of India on 17th 26/11 Anniversary Honouring Martyrs

26/11 Attack

The National Security Guard (NSG) is set to host a deeply symbolic memorial and pledge ceremony on November 26 at the Gateway of India in Mumbai. It is to mark the 17th anniversary of the 26/11 terror attacks with the theme “Neverever”. According to The Hindustan Times, the Mumbai unit of the NSG is going to organise this event to honour the martyrs—the security personnel, civilians, and survivors who witnessed and endured unimaginable trauma during the attacks. Officials say that the gathering is not only about remembrance but also about pledging, as a nation, that such horror must never, ever happen again.

A dedicated memorial zone will also be set up to display photographs and names of those who sacrificed their lives, surrounded by floral tributes and candles. In a touching gesture, the wax from those homage candles will be collected to form a “living memorial” that will be preserved for future observances.

Students from 11 colleges and 26 schools across Mumbai will participate in a pledge-taking ceremony under the “Neverever” banner. It reflects their commitment to peace, vigilance, and national security. A pledge booth and a message-writing corner will also be set up for citizens to offer personal messages to the victims and survivors.

The event will include audio-visual segments and a felicitation of survivors and families of the victims. security. It will allow people to honour not just those who died, but also those who carried the burden of memory, reports the Free Press Journal. The Gateway of India will be bathed in the colours of the tricolour in the evening, and the word “Neverever” will be projected onto it—a powerful visual symbol of India’s resilience, courage, and unbroken spirit.

The gravity of the 26/11 tragedy remains etched in history: when 10 terrorists stormed Mumbai in November 2008, they killed “166 people”, including security personnel and foreign nationals, and injured over 300 others, according to the Hindustan Times.

The NSG invites citizens of all ages through this “Neverever” memorial—especially the young—to pause, reflect, and renew a collective vow: “never to forget, and never to allow such terror again”.
