Arvind Kejriwal Arrested by CBI, SC allows Delhi CM to file fresh plea over stay on bail
Supreme Court has allowed Arvind Kejriwal to withdraw his plea challenging the June 21 order by Delhi Court staying the trail court's order.
Arvind Kejriwal Arrest Latest news: In a major development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal in the liquor policy case.
CBI, who presented the AAP leader in Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court, stated that the agency could’ve done the exercise before the Lok Sabha elections yet it didn't.
The probe agency on Tuesday examined Arvind Kejriwal in Tihar Jail and recorded his statement about the Excise Policy case.
On the other hand, the Supreme Court has allowed Arvind Kejriwal to withdraw his plea challenging the June 21 order granting an interim stay on the trial court’s order by which he was granted regular bail.
It may be recalled that the Delhi High Court on Tuesday stayed Kejriwal's bail order passed by the trial court. The court stated that the trial court should have at least recorded its satisfaction with the fulfillment of twin conditions of section 45 of Prevention of the Money Laundering Act (PMLA) before passing the order.
The court also stated that the vacation judge did not properly consider the material documents presented by the ED.
Notably, Arvind Kejriwal has been in custody since March 21, except for a brief period of interim bail granted by the Supreme Court for election campaigning during Lok Sabha Elections 2024.
