Known for his simplicity, veteran actor Dharmendra Deol was given a quiet and simple last rite, attended by top Bollywood personalities including Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan.

Tributes continue to pour in from across the nation, including from personalities outside the entertainment industry.

One such personality, cricketing star Yuvraj Singh, also paid his respects, remembering the person Dharmendra was behind the fame.

“Every home had a favourite Dharmendra film. He was a part of our growing up and of Indian cinema’s finest years. He brought strength, charm and honesty to every role, and carried Punjab’s warmth wherever he went. Behind the fame was a humble, grounded and deeply human soul. His legacy will live on in the hearts of millions,” Yuvraj Singh wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Top political leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, LoP in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge also paid tribute to the late actor, calling his passing an irreplaceable loss.

Earlier in the day, following the last rites, actress and wife Hema Malini and their daughters were seen leaving the Pawan Hans crematorium in Mumbai.
