Badlapur Rape Case Accused Encounter Latest News: In a major development, the man accused of raping two nursery school girls at Badlapur, near Mumbai, died on Monday evening after he shot at a police officer inside a police vehicle and was injured in retaliatory firing. The police said Akshay Shinde, 23, snatched the gun of a constable and opened fire, injuring him. 

In the meanwhile, the Opposition alleged that the killing was an 'encounter". Likewise, the Maharashtra government has formed a Special Investigation Team to probe the matter.  

According to information, the police team reached the Mumbra bypass at around 6.30 pm on Monday. It was then that Shinde snatched the gun of a constable and fired several rounds, injuring him. In retaliation, another officer shot Shinde, leaving him critically injured after which he was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The constable, Nilesh More, who was also injured, is currently under treatment at a hospital. 

On the other hand, the mother of the Badlapur rape case accused Akshay Shinde, who was shot dead by police in an alleged encounter on Monday evening, has refuted the claims made by the Maharashtra Police about the sequence of events that led to his death. She said that he was killed as part of a "big conspiracy".
