LADAKH: In a remarkable display of determination and valor, a team of mountaineers from the Indian Army's 19th Dagger Division has achieved a historic feat by hoisting the tricolor on the towering 7,077-meter high Mount Kun in a record-breaking seven-day expedition. This extraordinary accomplishment comes as the nation celebrates Kargil Vijay Divas, commemorating the victory in the Kargil War.

The journey began on July 8 when Major General Rajesh Sethi, GOC of the 19 Infantry Division, proudly flagged off the team from Baramulla, setting them on their ambitious quest. Led by the seasoned mountaineer, Colonel Rajnish Joshi, the climbers embarked on their arduous expedition, braving challenging terrains and unpredictable weather conditions.

After days of perseverance and unwavering dedication, the climbers departed from the base camp on 11 July, advancing steadily towards their goal. Finally, on July 18, at 11:40 am, they reached the majestic summit of Mount Kun, proudly hoisting the tricolor in a symbolic gesture of triumph.

A Defense spokesperson expressed admiration for the Indian Army mountaineering team's unparalleled skill and unwavering dedication, which culminated in this historic achievement. The successful ascent of Mount Kun stands as a testament to the indomitable spirit of our armed forces and their commitment to upholding the honor of the nation.
