VP Jagdeep Dhankhar Calls High-Level Meeting With Nadda, Kharge After Delhi High Court Cash Controversy; Judge Withdrawn From Judicial Duties, Latest News: Rajya Sabha Chiarman Jagdeep Dhankhar has convened meeting on Monday with leader of the house JP Nadda and Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge to discuss judicial accountability following the issue of cash recovery at the residence of the Delhi High Judge, Justice Yashwant Varma, according to media reports.
The meeting is scheduled to convene at 11:30 today. It is reported that congress leader Jairam Ramesh had raised his concerns over the issue on Friday and urged The Chairman Dhankar to direct the government to come up with solutions.
Delhi High Court Judge has got into a controversy after fire broke on the night of holi on March 14 and that led to discovery of half burnt cash in sacks in one room which is not part of the his main residency.
For now, Delhi high court on the direction of chief justice of India, Khanna, has withdrawn Justice Yashwant Varma of his judicial duties with immediate effect.
"In view of recent events, the judicial work from Hon'ble Mr Justice Yashwant Varma is withdrawn with immediate effect, till further orders,” times of India has quoted the circular informing.
It is also reported that he has been removed from his scheduled cases in Monday’s hearing list.
On March 22, the Chief Justice of India, Justice Sanjiv Khanna, announced in a press release that the case is under the scrutiny of a three-member committee, constituted based on the recommendation of Delhi High Court Chief Justice D.K. Upadhyaya.
