Pahalgam Terror Attack: Pakistan and China React, Expressing “Shock” and “Concern”

Pakistan, China, Ukraine, United Kingdom and several other nations responded to the terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of innocent tourists in the remote Baisaran meadows on April 22, 2025.

Pakistan expressed concern over the loss of lives in the incident.
Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) spokesperson, Shafqat Khan, while responding to media queries, said, “We are concerned at the loss of tourists’ lives in an attack in Anantnag district of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.”
“We extend our condolences to the families of the deceased and wish the injured a speedy recovery,” Pakistan’s Dawn news portal quoted the statement.

Meanwhile, Chinese Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong, expressed his reaction in a post on X (formerly Twitter):
“Shocked by the attack in Pahalgam and strongly condemn it. Deep condolences for the victims and sincere sympathies to the injured and the bereaved families. We oppose terrorism in all its forms.”

Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine condemning the terror attack in a post on X, "We strongly condemn the heinous attack in Pahalgam, Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, which took many lives. When innocent people are killed, it causes unbearable pain. Such violence has no justification. On this grim day, Ukraine stands in solidarity with India."

 British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also comdemned, "The horrific terrorist attack in Kashmir today is utterly devastating. My thoughts are with those affected, their loved ones, and the people of India,” said Starmer in a post on his X handle.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also extended their condolences to India, denouncing the brutal civilian attack.

The Resistance Front (TRF), a shadow outfit of the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The incident occurred just days after Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Asim Munir, delivered a provocative speech describing Kashmir as Pakistan’s “jugular vein.”
