14 US Trekkers including an Indian Hide behind Rock in Bageshwar to Escape Evalanche

DEHRADUN: A Group of 14 trekkers, which included 13 Americans and an Indian guide, escaped an avalanche on Thursday night in Bageshwar district. They hide behind a rock to escaped from the disaster. 

As per the reports, when the avalanche hit the tents of the trekkers, one of them used a satellite phone to alert the authorities concerned. A team of state disaster response force (SDRF) reached the area on Saturday.

Reportedly, The trekkers were identified as Sarah Martin, Allison Maye Gunther, Catlin Piper, Emilie Sarmiento, Lily Wheeler, Logan Moya, Taylor Joy Pajunen, William Carter Jahncke, Adin Gilman Cohen, Benyon Wright, Connor White, Laine Pickell, Samuel Colesworthy, and their Indian guide Pranesha Manchaiah. 

A district disaster management officer, Bageshwar said, "We spoke to the trekkers on Saturday morning. They said that they were all safe but lost their backpacks and all other luggage under the snow. All of them are coming down to Khati village which is at an altitude of about 8,000 ft. They are most likely to meet the SDRF rescue team midway.”
