Hirbai Ibrahim Lobi honored with Padma Shri

Padma Awards were announced on the eve of Republic Day 2023. President Droupadi Murmu conferred Padma awards to people from different fields such as art, public affairs, science, etc. The list comprises six Padma Vibhushan, nine Padma Bhushan and 91 Padma Shri Awards. The list also includes 2 persons from the category of Foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI and seven posthumous awardees.

The Names of 19 women was included in the list of 106 Padma awardees. It includes many well-known names, such as writer Suman Murthy, Sudha Kalyanam and actress Raveena Tandon. Other Padma awardees are women who are symbols of women empowerment and contribute in over all development of women in the society. Social worker Hirbai Ibrahim Lobi from Gujarat was honored with Padma Shree for her work for the welfare of the state's Siddi community and women's empowerment. Striving towards the empowerment of women, lack of education or other shortcomings could not become an obstacle for her. 

70-year-old Padma awardee, Hirbai Lobi received the Padma Shri award from President Droupadi Murmu for the upliftment and development of the Siddi tribal community. After receiving the award, Lobi also interacted a little with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

About Hirbai Lobi....

Padma Shri awardee Hirbai Lobi is a resident of Jambur village located in Talala tehsil of Gir Somnath district of Gujarat State. Hirbai Lobi had lost her parents in her childhood and was brought up by his grandmother. She is the president of ‘Adivasi Mahila Sangh’, also known as ‘Siddi Women's Federation’. She did endeavours to provide education to the children of the Siddi community especially girls. 

Awareness Among People....

Significantly, Hirbai Lobi did not got any basic education due to the lack of means. From early age, she was passionate about learning. Radio contributed a lot to her knowledge. Hirbai used to listen to the government schemes and development programs on the radio. She started making people aware the schemes and as how to avail benefits from them. 

Hirabai was determined to make a difference in the lives of women. She had the aim to educate and empower the women of Siddi community. To fulfill this goal, she did her best efforts and brought change in the lives of more than 700 women and children. She started some movements related to girl education, family planning, community schools etc which are giving many benefits to the people. 

The Padma Awards are known as the highest civilian awards in India which is distinguished into three categories, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. The awards are being given in various fields of activities like art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medical, literature and education, sports, and others.
