Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar Resignation Latest News:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday wished “good health” to Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, who resigned from his post on Monday evening after a Business Advisory Committee meeting chaired by him at the Rajya Sabha.

“Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji has got many opportunities to serve our country in various capacities, including as the Vice President of India. Wishing him good health,” PM Modi wrote in a post on X.

The resignation took everyone by surprise, with the Opposition questioning the reason behind it. Although, in his resignation letter, Dhankhar stated that it is “to prioritize health care and abide by medical advice” that he has resigned, which he said would be “effective immediately”, Congress MP Jairam Ramesh claimed that there are “far deeper reasons” behind the “truly unprecedented” resignation.

“Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar's resignation speaks highly of him. It also speaks poorly of those who had got him elected as Vice President in the first instance,” he remarked.

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, speaking to ANI on Tuesday, said, “We also seek clarification from the Central Government” on the resignation, while RJD leader Mrityunjay Tiwari said that the resignation appeared to have been given “under some pressure.”

MP P. Sandosh Kumar also expressed a similar opinion, stating, "I don't think it is because of his ill health, and only the BJP can tell what happened last night. The Speaker was very enthusiastic in running the House..."

Leader of the Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is yet to comment on the matter.

Meanwhile, BJP MLA Ram Kadam told ANI that “if we are unable to do justice to that system due to health or any other reason, then it is appropriate to leave that post...”

Another BJP MP, Dr. Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad, claimed, "...Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar was also admitted to AIIMS some days ago...He resigned due to health reasons."
