Prime Minister Narendra Modi has gifted the President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a royal carved wooden Jhula (swing) from Gujarat.

The beautifully carved wooden swing from Gujarat is hand-carved with detailed floral and traditional designs, showing skilled craftsmanship, according to ANI.

In Gujarati culture, the jhula symbolises togetherness, conversation and bonding across generations, it said, while adding that the gift also resonates deeply with the UAE’s declaration of 2026 as the Year of Family.The 

President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) arrived in India on 19 January, and he was personally received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the airport in Delhi. 

The president is in India at the invitation of PM Modi. This is his fifth visit to India in the last ten years and his third official visit to India as the President of the UAE.

The two leaders on 19 January, 2026, reviewed the full scope of bilateral cooperation between the two countries and have agreed that the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has continued to strengthen over the past decade, according to a joint statement issued by Prime Minister’s office. 

The leaders have directed teams to work towards connecting Micro, Small and Medium Sector Enterprises (MSMEs) on both sides.

The UAE has conveyed its full support for the success of India's BRICS Chairmanship in 2026.
