Online Gaming Platforms to be Prohibited Under the Bill Passed Today, Affects Genuine Gamers, Latest News: Lok Sabha on Wednesday passed “Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025,” to ban online games played with money.
Under the bill, Dream11, My11Circle, MPL, Winzo, GamesKraft, 99Games, KheloFantasy, Games24x7, Pokerbaazi, Rummy, and Parimatch will all be prohibited, according to a report by The Week.
The bill in question prohibits all money-based online games.
According to the week report, which a report by Times of India, about 4 lakh companies, 2 lakh jobs, investments worth Rs 25,000 crore, and annual GST collections of Rs 20,000 crore may be threatened.
All India Gaming Federation (AIGF), the E-Gaming Federation (EGF), and the Federation of Indian Fantasy Sports (FIFS) had written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, asking for urgent intervention on the proposed Bill, the report said.
AIGF had cited that if the bill would affect crores of genuine gamers and it would lead to them resorting to illegal sites and gambling networks run by unregulated operators.
