NEW-DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday arrested a fugitive accused of involvement in a terrorist-gangster-drug smuggler network. Yudhveer Singh alias Sadhu, a resident of Fatehabad, Haryana, was an associate of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently lodged in jail.

Yudhveer Singh was evading arrest for the past several days. Investigation revealed that Yudhveer used to smuggle arms across the border for dangerous gangsters and criminals in different parts of India. On the instructions of Lawrence Bishnoi and members of the syndicate, he used to shelter criminals involved in murder, extortion, etc., including members of criminal gangs.

In the cas, NIA had earlier filed a charge sheet against 14 accused under various sections of IPC, Arms Act and UA(P) Act on 24 March 2023. The case relates to a conspiracy hatched by members of criminal syndicates/gangs based in India and abroad to raise funds and recruit youth to carry out terrorist activities in the National Capital and other parts of the country.

The NIA investigation has so far revealed that the conspiracy was being hatched in prisons of various states and was being executed by an organized network of operatives based abroad. Further investigations are underway in the case as part of the NIA's efforts to dismantle the growing nexus between terrorists, gangsters and drug traffickers and dismantle their funding and infrastructure.
