Indian Film Festival In Israel has begun latest news: Amidst governmental initiatives aimed at establishing India as a leading hub for global film production hub, and in the global summit WAVES 2025, An indian film festival started with the screening of KIRAN RAO'S highly esteemed "laapataa ladies'', ''Dangal'', Zindagi na milegi dobara, ''MiMi'', English Vinglish, ''777 Charlie'' and other five movies to be telecast in the film festival, and it will run till march 8.

The Indian Film Festival in Israel shone a spotlight on India's national heritage, cultural issues, and artistic talent as India is yet pursuing its government initiatives to become a global film production center. Touted by the Indian Embassy with Movieland, Netanya, the event truly captivated the audience and dished out much applause.
Laapattaa Ladies had the most prominent seat as India's official entry to the Academy Awards in 2025. This family saga, which delves into the themes of self-discovery, femininity, and life, made its initial impact on the Israeli audience. Senior Israeli journalist Lev Aran narrates, "I laughed and cried and had no control over my emotions as the beautifully crafted movie kept me spellbound all along." 

 

According to JP Singh, India's Ambassador to Israel, this festival offers the opportunity for cultural ties between India and Israel. "I hope that this movie will also be a good precursor for future cooperation between both the filmmaking industries," said the ambassador, adding that it would showcase quality entertainment to audiences here.
Singh also referred to continued collaborations through screening events, visits by film producers, and interaction between filmmakers and stakeholders from both countries. He added that post production was currently nearing the end on the very first official film under the India-Israel Audio-Visual Co-production agreement. Singh also invited Israeli producers to explore coproduction opportunities with India. 

Singh further reaffirmed that the Indian government is very serious by highlighting important incentives like the reimbursement of up to 40 percent on production costs. He mentioned India's best location, skilled technicians, big market, and high-quality technological advancements as an attraction for international filmmakers.

The Indian Ambassador invited stakeholders from the Media & Entertainment (M&E) sector to join the inaugural World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) in Mumbai from May 1-4, 2025. Expected to grow significantly by reaching a market size of USD 50 billion by 2029, India has caught WAVES, which seeks to shape the future of this industry. Singh further asked for cooperation in the Create in India Challenge (CIC): Season 1, which is a precursor to WAVES 2025 and involves contests in different segments of entertainment.

Deputy Mayor of Netanya Adir Benyamini added that this festival has consequently increased the understanding of Indian cinema among the public in Israel. He expressed honor in hosting such an event and a wish for it to become part of tradition. "Netanya is proud to host the Indian Film Festival 2025. An event that brings together culture, creativity, and shared appreciation," he said.

The festival was attended by famous Israeli actor Tsahi HaLevi, known for his roles in "Fauda" and in the Bollywood movie "Akelli." On his visit to India and other such courses with the film industry from that country, he expressed his desire for future collaborations and deeper cultural exchange. He voiced his thoughts regarding the warm relationship between India and Israel while accenting the importance of art in constructing bridges and friendships. 
But the highlight of the festival was an astounding performance of the iconic Bollywood track "Tujhe Dekha To Ye Jaana Sanam," featured in the 1995 blockbuster "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge," rendered by HaLevi, leaving the audience spellbound. 

The Indian Film Festival in Israel did not only celebrate India's cinematic heritage but also strengthened the cultural ties and opened fresh avenues for cooperation between the film industries of the two countries.
