Delhi revokes GRAP Stage-IV; Stage-I, II & III intensified

Delhi Air Quality: The Sub-Committee on GRAP on Tuesday revoked actions under Stage-IV (‘Severe+’ category, AQI >450) of the extant Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), noting improvement in Delhi’s air quality.

The decision was taken after the Sub-Committee, in a meeting held today, reviewed the air quality scenario in the region along with forecasts from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), according to an official order issued by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM).

“Owing to favourable meteorological conditions and an increase in wind speed, the AQI of Delhi has shown improvement and was recorded at 378 (‘Very Poor’) on 20 January 2026. Further, IMD/IITM forecasts indicate that the AQI is likely to remain in this range in the coming days,” the order stated.

“Accordingly, the Sub-Committee has decided to revoke with immediate effect its order dated 17 January 2026, which invoked actions under Stage-IV (‘Severe+’ category, AQI >450) of the extant GRAP,” it added.

However, actions under Stage-I, II and III of the revised GRAP will continue to remain in force and will be implemented as per the modified GRAP notified on 21 November 2025.

On 21 November 2025, the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and adjoining areas, following directions from the Supreme Court, had issued a modified schedule of GRAP.
