PATNA: President Droupadi Murmu paid her respects at Takht Sri Harimandar Ji Patna Sahib, a revered Sikh shrine, during her visit to Bihar. The President's visit was marked by stringent security measures, emphasizing the significance of the occasion.

President Murmu's visit to Takht Sri Harimandar Ji Patna Sahib was highlighted on her social media account with a post that read, "President Droupadi Murmu paid obeisance at Takht Sri Harimandar Ji Patna Sahib on the first day of her visit to Bihar." This visit holds immense cultural and religious importance for both the Sikh community and the nation.

Notably, Takht Sri Patna Sahib, also known as Takht Sri Harimandar Ji Patna Sahib, holds a unique place in Sikh history. This sacred shrine is one of the five thrones (Takhts) of the Sikh religion. Built in the 18th century by Maharaja Ranjit Singh, it stands at the birthplace of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs. Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, a prominent figure in Sikhism, was born in Patna in 1666, and this Takht pays homage to his legacy and spiritual teachings.

Inderjit Singh, General Secretary of Takht Sri Harimandar Ji Patna Sahib, expressed his delight at the President's visit. He stated, "It was indeed a great occasion that the President came to pray at Takht Sri Harimandar Ji Patna Sahib. We got a chance to share with them the history of this famous place."
