CM Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted a ground inspection of Maa Purnagiri Temple latest news: On Monday, May 12, 2025, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made his way to the under-construction Maa Purnagiri Temple at Nagla Tarai in Khatima for an inspection, a project valued at 2.54 crore.

This development is one of the state's efforts to bolster religious tourism and the accompanying infrastructure.During the visit, CM Dhami laid stress on timely completion and quality construction. Hence, he directed the executing agency, Rural Works Department, to please fast-track construction with all required amenities like water and sanitation facilities. Contractors found lacking in quality standards would face stringent action, he warned.

The Maa Purnagiri Temple is an important religious site, being one among the 51 Shakti Peethas in India. According to Hindu mythology, it is believed to be the site where the navel of Goddess Sati fell. Located about 20 km away from Tanakpur in Champawat district, the temple is thronged by devotees in thousands, especially during the Chaitra Navratri Festival.

Post inspection, the Chief Minister also met with locals in the Lohia Head Camp office to hear their concerns and instructed the officials to resolve their issues on an urgent basis. Accompanying him were several dignitaries such as MLA Shiv Arora and Kashipur Mayor Deepak Bali, along with other local leaders and officials.
