Vande Mataram at 150: Oscar-Winner MM Keeravani’s Tribute Set for Republic Day 2026

Oscar-winning composer MM Keeravani has been roped in to compose the music for the 2026 Republic Day parade. This marks a major cultural highlight for the upcoming national celebrations, as the ‘Naatu Naatu’ fame composer will be providing the musical backdrop for a grand ‘Vande Mataram’ presentation.

The Ministry of Culture has organised this project. It will feature a massive performance by 2,500 artists from across the country.

Keeravani expressed deep honour at the opportunity; he said that the composition aims to celebrate the spirit of the nation. Rehearsals for the 77th Republic Day parade are already underway at Kartavya Path in the national capital.

This year’s celebrations are set to have a significant international presence, with European Council President Antonio Luis Santos da Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen invited as the chief guests.

Their visit also coincides with the 16th EU-India Summit scheduled for January 27, where they will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss strategic partnerships in trade and security.

Keeravani’s musical tribute is expected to be one of the primary attractions of the cultural segment, blending traditional Indian themes with modern orchestral elements to mark the historic anniversary of the iconic national song.
