The Northern Command of the Indian Army celebrated its 47th raising day at Udhampur today, with its GOC-in-C Lt Gen Ranbir Singh exhorting all ranks to continue to perform their task with dedication and professionalism. According to a defence spokesperson, Lt Gen Singh paid homage to those who laid down their lives for the security and safety of the country by placing a wreath at the Dhruva Shahid Samarak.

The Northern Command was raised on 17 June, 1972. It is battle hardened and has an extremely rich combat experience.  The command has a glorious history of covering the entire spectrum of warfare, and its troops have been deployed in extremely inhospitable terrain and hazardous weather condition, which includes the Siachen glacier. On the occasion, Lt Gen Singh exhorted all ranks to continue to perform their task with fortitude, dedication and professionalism and be prepared for all challenges in the future.

He extended his wishes to the families and defence civilian staff of the Command, and complimented the troops for their steadfastness, resolve and exemplary devotion to duty.
