TMC playing with security of West Bengal, country; youth need to be cautious: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday levelled serious allegations against the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal, accusing it of playing with the security of both the state and the country by not allowing fencing along the international border.

Addressing a large gathering in Singur, Hooghly, PM Modi said, “The TMC government is playing with the security of West Bengal and the country as well, so the youth here, in particular, need to be extremely cautious.”

He alleged that the state government provides various facilities to infiltrators and even holds protests to protect them.

He added that the BJP-led Central government has repeatedly written to the TMC government stating that fencing needs to be installed along the Bengal border and that land is required for the purpose. However, he alleged that the TMC government does not cooperate.

“TMC provides patronage to such gangs that give protection to infiltrators and create fake documents for them,” he accused.

PM Modi said the time has now come to stop infiltration entirely.

The Prime Minister also spoke about Hooghly and its connection to Vande Mataram, along with the development in the state.
