NEET UG 2026 Results: Punjab's Aryan Gupta and Haryana's Panshul Bansal Jointly Top; 11.21 Lakh Qualify
Female aspirants recorded a higher success rate of 56.8 percent compared to 55.1 percent among male counterparts.
The National Testing Agency released the NEET UG 2026 re-examination results on July 16, following the cancellation of the initial May test. Nearly 20 Lakh aspirants appeared for the second attempt held on June 21, 2026, across 5,440 examination centres in India and abroad.
Officials confirmed that 11.21 lakh candidates successfully qualified for medical, dental, and AYUSH undergraduate programmes. The re-test results highlight a significant recovery in top performance, with 19 students scoring above 700 marks. This contrasts sharply with the previous year when no candidate surpassed that threshold.
Aryan Gupta from Punjab and Panshul Bansal from Haryana jointly achieved the highest national rank with 715 out of 720 marks. Across the country, 1,492 students secured 650 or more marks, while 10,160 candidates crossed the 600 mark. These results provide critical clarity for students preparing for the upcoming admission counselling process.
The data reflects a powerful trend regarding gender representation in medicine. Women accounted for over 58 percent of all qualified candidates. Furthermore, female aspirants recorded a higher success rate of 56.8 percent compared to 55.1 percent among male counterparts. This shift underscores a growing demographic diversity among the nation’s future healthcare professionals.
Qualifiers emerged from every state and union territory, indicating a broad geographical distribution of merit. With results now finalized, the government is moving forward with counselling, while preparing to transition the entrance format to computer-based testing starting in 2027.
